Easy Tinnitus Remedies
Many people describe tinnitus as a ringing sound in the ears. There are actually two different kinds of tinnitus. Pulsatile tinnitus actually throbs, you can not only hear your heart in your ears you can feel it also. Nonpulsatile tinnitus is sound only, no physical sensations. Also, rather than a pulsing you will hear a high pitched noise, although some people describe what they hear as hissing or buzzing. There are quite a few tinnitus remedies that can be applied at home or at your doctor's office to eradicate the problem.
One common sence remedy is to clean out your ears. First and foremost, do not do this with a cotton swab, sharp instrument, stick or anything else. If you want to clean your ears at home, purchase an ear cleaning kit that comes with drops and an irrigator. The drops are applied for a certain amount of time, then you use the irrigator to remove any remaining wax that is stuck in the ear. After the drops have penetrated, you will usually need to lie on your side with a towel under your head for awhile, if specified on package instructions.
When you go and visit your doctor, he or she can also irrigate your ears, usually more quickly and effectively than you ever could. The high powered irrigators can be a bit daunting, but they really don't hurt and can dislodge even the toughest wax. Also doctors can remove wax with special tools. For fluid buildup, an ear infection may be to blame. If your doctor believes antibiotics are in order, he or she will recommend them. If not, the infection will clear up on its own. To ease your discomfort and draw the fluid out, try microwaving a sock filled with rice until very warm but not scalding hot, then lay on your makeshift pillow on the affected ear.
Often you will find that tinnitus remedies are treatments for underlying medical conditions. For example, you may suffer from tinnitus if you have high blood pressure. For this, cleaning your ears probably isn't going to help. Your doctor may put you on medication, or he or she may tell you to change your diet and get more exercise. If your tinnitus is caused by clenching of the jaw, there are stress relief exercises you can try and even massage techniques that may help ease the pressure. This in turn may relax the right muscles and solve the ringing in the ears from TMJ dysfunction.
